Description: Fossil "true whelk" from 18MYA Chipola Formation deposits. Found in gray clay/sand banks of Tenmile Creek. Genus Hesperisternia was formerly know as Cantharus, Latin for "cup".

Age: Miocene Epoch

Location Found: United States, Florida, Tenmile Creek near Clarksville, FL
