Description: Carcharocles megalodon - formerly called Carcharodon megalodon - (Giant white shark) tooth. The reclassification is disputed and a website is devoted to this controversy. The tooth appears notched at each edge near the root/blade juncture, a not uncommon find in the Peace River. Is this the result of paleo man using the teeth for tools or ornaments? Age: Miocene. Found By: Ed DeRouin Location Found: Peace River, near Zolfo Springs, FL Current Custodian : Ed DeRouin Identified By: Ed DeRouin References: Florida's Fossils, pp. 98-99.
