The game itself is fairly rare. On Mike Etler's rarity list it is ranked B+. The most valuable thing about Arkanoid was the special Vaus Controller. The object of the game is to maneuver your "paddle" (actually I think they refer to it as a ship) so it rebounds a ball in order to knock off small, multi-colored rectangles. Some of the rectangles contain special equipment upgrades for your ship. The special upgrades and supports are:
wider paddle (ship)
slower ball movement
guns that allow you to shoot the tiles with your paddle (ship)
three balls at once
an advance to the next stage
sticky paddle (ship)

There are 33 stages in this game. They get harder as you go (obviously). Some tiles need 5 hits just to destroy one! This game is actually quite a good one. It's a very simple game that IMO is entertaining. This particular game also has a high replay value. I could play it over and over and over. Definitely worth getting if the price isn't ridiculous. Generally, this game brand new sells for around $30 with the controller. Mercury Hess sells them on his site. Check it out: http://www.primenet.com/~mercuryh/
