This game is a LARGE improvement in the Dragon Warrior series. The world is much larger, there are tons more items, weapons, and armor, and so so many more things to do. They also introduce the "party" system. You will gain 2 comrades throughout your journey: Talint and Rosa. No more of this "I work alone "shiznit. Another new introduction is multiple enemies! You can encounter up to eight guys at a time! Some enemies can even call for reinforcements after some of their friends die. I still remember the first time I encountered more than one enemy, I screamed, "HOLY SHIT!!! EIGHT SLIMES?!?! I'm so raped!" You get used to it though, just the initial shock of encountering so many at once caught me off guard. I had no idea they would pull that shit on me.

Another sweet aspect about this game and all the Dragon Warriors for that matter is the translation. You won't see any "ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US" or "SOMEONE SET UP US THE BOMB" in this game. Ye olde english is written quite well; you can tell they put a large amount of work into it. Text in games is very important, although many companies don't really give a shit. The text in this game, for example, sets up a fantastic medieval atmosphere. This truly adds to my enjoyment of the game and gives me a greater amount of respect for the company that made it.

All in all, this game has taken a giant leap since the first one in the series. As I will say with all of the Dragon Warrior games, buy this game if you don't already have it! It will cost you more than you might think though. Dragon Warrior 2 isn't even a rare game. This game complete will generally cost you around $30-$35. Why does this game cost so much? Hmm..maybe because it's a good game. :)

I give this game .
