You are Samus Aran. You are sent to the planet "Zebeth" to find and kill the Mother Brain. Why you ask, because the police ordered you to! That is my only problem with this game. Why are you killing the Mother Brain? What did the planet Zebeth ever do to you? Well, that doesn't really matter. I love this game. It's a quiet and eirie game that IMO is extremely enjoyable. If you don't have this game, GET IT. Words can't explain how sweet it is, but what the hell I'll try anyway.

For some reason, Metroid was unpopular in Japan. The U.S. almost didn't get this game because of that very reason. Maybe it was the lack of story. The game was released twice in America. It was first released in a silver labeled cart and box. It was re-released as a classic in a yellow cart and yellow box a few years after.

This game is also fairly challenging. There are tons of secrets to find and a few minibosses to kill. It's an overall kickass game. The music, enemies, puzzles, and everything fits so well! Damn awesome! Far from being a cheesy game, definitely one of my personal favorites.

Oh...I didn't mention that Samus Aran is a girl. Scared the crap out of me when I found out.
