Woohoo! Earthbound! I really don't understand why some people don't like this game. Maybe because it is a daring new way to present an RPG. This game is unique in many ways. Mainly because it takes place in present times. No, no, no...This game doesn't begin in the town of "Isis" with a great dragon slaying people in the town and you find that your destiny is to defeat the unsermountable evil which dwells in the undercaves. You're just a normal kid with a bat!

A simple boy who, one day finds out he isn't so simple, is startled in the middle of the night by a strange phenomena. It seems that a UFO has landed in their town "Onett". The police try to keep everything "hush-hush" but the it can't be held secret long. Ness embarks on a journey to stop the aliens from taking over the world. Basically, the plot is the same as any other RPG. Do a bunch of stuff for people and kill the bad guy at the end. But it is in the technique used to present game that makes it one-of-a-kind. This game is a pure example. Instead of "potions" to regain your HP, you eat "hamburgers" or something the normal people would eat.

As with all Earthbounds that have been released thus far, HAL/Ape has been the producer of this magical game. Nintendo had enough brains to publish it. Earthbound is scheduled to be released for the Nintendo 64 this winter. My guess is that it will be released in the summer of 2000. Nintendo can make some great games, but need to work on speeding up the process.

How much will this game cost you? It all depends upon location and supply :) If you live anywhere near a Best-Buy® you can pick up a BRAND NEW copy for a low price of $5.99! Amazing eh? The game comes with a strategy guide too. In fact, all SNES Earthbound games came with one. In my opinion, this game is definitely worth it. Some people may believe the latter. It's all in your own taste. At least give it a try!
