Welcome to FossilWeb!

Welcome to the New Fossilweb! For the last 15 years, I have run an interactive site for the identification of fossils called FossilWeb. Members would submit photos of fossils they had found and others helped identify them. Times have changed and social networking has become the new paradigm for sharing information, so FossilWeb is evolving.

Over the time FossilWeb was running, members submitted thousands of photos. On this new FossilWeb site I will be displaying all those specimens you submitted to the on-line museum up for viewing and linking to these images on Pinterest.

To post your photos on Pinterest, first (obviously) join Pinterest at pinterest.com, then perform the following steps.
1.Follow Ed DeRouin on Pinterest (not just the board you want to pin to) You do this by clicking on "Find Friends" then enter my email address (shown below). Once you get to my profile page, the one with Ed DeRouin written at the top, press "Follow". Makes sense, eh?
2.Email Ed DeRouin from the email address that is connected with your Pinterest account and let me know that you want to join the Identify Fossils board.
Please include PINTEREST BOARD INVITE in the email subject line.
3.Send the email to ed.e.derouin@gmail.com
This is a one time process. After that you will be able to post photos for identification, or make identifications, from wherever you are, from your computer at home or even from your cell phone at your fossil site! Neat, eh?

Use the "Specimen List" link on the left side of the page to see the fossils that have been identified so far. The list will grow as I move them over from FossilWeb and add new fossils from Pinterest. I'm also leaving my list of favorite fossil-related books and fossil links. I hope they are of use to you. If you would like to get in touch, you can reach me at ed.e.derouin@gmail.com. Happy Hunting!
